Creation Cabinetry: Kitchen of the Month – August

The month of August is well underway, meaning that it’s time to select the Kitchen of the Month again. The project that we’ll be focusing on in this entry sports knotty pine cabinetry. This home is tightly nestled away in the woods in Deer Lake, Pennsylvania, a small town in Schuylkill County.

The style and color of cabinetry that the customers chose perfectly aligns with the rest of their home. Having continuity throughout a property is important, as it ensures that the style of the room doesn’t look foreign.

The customers opted to have two of the cabinets in the kitchen painted hunter green to match the color of their window trim. In doing so, they created a point of interest, drawing visitors’ eyes towards the window. The layout of the kitchen also assisted in doing this. The sink cabinet and hutch, in addition to being green, are slightly distressed. Just a bit of the paint was rubbed off to give the appearance that the cabinetry has been there for a great deal of time.

And while the aesthetic appeal of custom cabinetry is crucial to the success of a project, at the end of the day, it’s the usefulness and workability of a kitchen that is truly important. That being said, this kitchen has an abundance of storage and is spacious enough to comfortably prepare meals.

From the blog: Countertop choices to consider

The corner cabinetry provides the homeowners with a great deal of storage. Due to the small size of the kitchen, this layout keeps everything within reach when cooking. Being able to easily access your ingredients without leaving the cooking area is important, as certain recipes require constant attention during the cooking process.

All in all, this kitchen, while tiny, doesn’t sacrifice anything in terms of design and usability. It goes to show that size isn’t everything. With the help of an experienced designer any kitchen can fit all of your needs. Just because a kitchen is small, doesn’t mean that it can’t achieve all of your wishes – the example shown here is proof of that.
